About Feedmesh

One of my favorite feed aggregators, Taptu, shut down for unknown reasons the end of March, 2015. After scouring the web for an alternative, I came to the conclusion that there was nothing out there that could compare, both from an interface standpoint and from a feature set. Since I couldn't find anything, I decided to just build my own.

I realize there are dozens upon dozens of similar services like this out there and they have already solved a multitude of problems with aggregating feeds. I decided that even so, I was going to try and put something together. It has been challenging, yet fun, so even if this experiment proves to be a failure in the long run, at least I can say I learned a lot along the way.

Please keep in mind that this is a work in progress and the data coming back from some of these feeds might be inconsistent and disorganized at times until I am able to fully complete the back end crawler that processes data.

I would also like to note that prior to originally using Taptu, I breifly used Pulse, before it was bought by LinkedIn. It seems that as of late, the original Pulse service has also shut down. Since both of these services are now defunct, I am as determined as ever to create a replacement that works like they did, taking the best of both and putting it all into one.

Planned Mobile App Additions and Features

These are features that have been suggested and are planned for addition to our mobile app. This list was last updated 2/27/16.

• Pre-grouped sources for things such as "Technology", "Best of Android", "Best of Entertainment", etc
• Dark theme
• Offline access to articles and ability to schedule sync of offline content
• Allow saving articles for reading later
• Add options to download images and fetch full-text only when connected to wifi
• Add option to hide articles that have been read

Planned Website Additions and Features

To try and keep people in the loop, here are a list of things I plan on adding (to the website) as time goes by. I will be starting development on Android and iOS apps soon, so for the sake of keeping the list simple, it includes things only currently planned for the website.

Statistics
